The chart measures 134 stitches wide by 100 stitches high. The pattern is stitched completely in cross stitch and so is suitable for linen and aida.

The sampler of a rabbit with flowers and butterflies was stitched by S H in 1838. It is one of a pair of samplers stitched by the same child. The other sampler is of a cat and is also available as a chart to stitch. Both samplers were kindly donated to the Museum by a lady from Sleights, a village near Whitby, North Yorkshire.

The original sampler is stitched in wool on coarse linen. It measures 230mm wide by 175mm high. Due to thread loss , this is not a completely true reproduction but is a close copy.
